MIDI middle C

jgil1
Piano Booster is a very useful program but I have tried three different MIDI controllers and the staff display in Piano Booster displays MIDI C3 as middle C not MIDI C4 as it should be. This places notes in the music that belong in the treble cleff in the bass cleff when trying to play along with music made for standard MIDI.

Perhaps a setting for middle C couild be added to the MIDI preferences to accomodate different keyboards with different numbers of octaves. It is strange nobody else has mentioned this. It could be me but three different controllers sending MIDI C4 place it an octave too high in the Piano Booster Staff Display.

What are the make and model number of each of the MIDI keyboard that you have tried? Also what OS are you using? On Linux there is a command line flag you can use to display the MIDI events as you play each key. Please can you try downloading a program that captures the events from your MIDI keyboard and post the results here.

Thanks

I loaded a MIDI monitor and middle C is showing as C4 from my keyboards and on Piano Booster now. It was Me as the problem.

I had been using a digital music workstation in Windows 7 called VST host for VST virtual instruments prior to discovering Piano Booster. I was using it to display a virtual keyboard for Piano Booster. I was still loaded and apparently transposing the MIDI down one octave there for another virtual instrument and I routed the MIDI through not arround it to Piano Booster.

All is fine now. I hava a Yamaha EZ-30 with lights I will try when I get a chance as I see there is a version of Piano Booster which supports lights.

Thanks for the quick reply,
